Illustrated by the author. 213 pp. Reprint for The Parents' Institute, Inc as a title in the 'Teen-age Mystery Classics' series, no date (only orig copyright), probably late 50's or early 60's, bound in dark blue cloth with red magnifying glass on front cover with 'Teen-age Mystery Classics' inside, red panel with title in dark blue on spine. One of a series of books published in a uniform binding.

The novel leaps right into the story as it begins: " Early in the spring of the year 1884 the three-masted schooner ' Castor,' from San Francisco to Valparaiso, was struck by a tornado off the coast of Peru. The storm, which rose with rose with frightful suddenness, was of short duration , but it left the 'Castor' a helpless wreck." 404 pp.

    Condition: Ex-library with some markings, missing front endpaper, in a red cloth binding with black and white lettering and picture of a schooner on the front cover. Rubbing to the spine, fraying to the ends of the spine, but still a sturdy and readable copy.
