The first two volumes had very modest sales and the UK publisher balked at this one - but when it appeared, it very quickly became a best seller in the US - the dust jacket announces a first printing of 80,000 copies - and it was hailed as a masterpiece and one of the greatest novels in the English language. Winner of the Australian Literature Society Gold Medal. 314 pp.

    Condition: Good overall in orange cloth (missing front endpaper) in a fair dust jacket (price-clipped, several chips, toning and wear to the folds)
