Hardcover first edition - Book for older children about the exploits of the early pioneers of aviation, illustrated with drawings (both black and white and color plates) by the author. All plates present, but one is loose. Included,of course, are the well-known aviators like Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, but also included are some lesser known exploits - those of Alcock and Brown, Hawker and Grieve, and many others in the years after World War I. Slightly larger format than usual (approx 9 1/4 by 7 1/4 inches), 205 pages, bound in dark blue cloth with gold lettering and airplane design on front cover.
Condition: Very good condition with some wear to the edges of the boards, rubbing to the spine lettering. Previous owner's name and a gift inscripton dated Christmas 1929.
