New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, (1978). Hardcover first edition - The very hard to find third collection of poetry by this writer who was born in China, grew up in Singapore, studied and worked in the United States, and now lives in Ireland. Her mother (to whom she dedicated this book), Wang Mei-Chuang, was a classical Chinese poet who taught history and Chinese literature. These poems have been described as "expressing an essential joy in life, . . vivid evocations of place and mood, satirical commentaries on current events, and poignant, fanciful, and lyrical reflections." Although she did not learn English until she was 17, George Starbuck, director of the Iowa Writers Workshop when she attended it in the late 1960s, commented that "she had not merely mastered the American language, but should play elaborate jokes on it." It was 36 years after 'Superstitions', before Wong May published another volume of poetry, although she had never stopped writing - and in 2022, she was awarded the Windham-Campbell Prize for her body of work. Somewhat oversized format, 135 pp. ISBN: 0-151867984.

Condition: Good overall in green cloth with gilt lettering on the spine - corners slightly bumped and scattered underlining, check marks, and a few comments throughout. No dust jacket. Despite the flaws this is still a decent copy of a book which has become very scarce,
