  • Browne, Howard.
THE WARRIOR OF THE DAWN: The Adventures of Tharn.

    Edition: First printing.

Chicago: Reilly & Lee, (1943.) dj. Hardcover first edition - Although written as a novel about a Cro-Magnon man and the world 20,000 years ago, this book is very much a Tarzan-like adventure story aimed at older boys, and also a patriotic exercise. As the dustjacket points out 'give Tharn a tommy-gun instead of a flint-tipped spear, and he would be very much at home with the Marines in the South Pacific.' The only fantasy novel and the only one aimed at young people by this writer best known for his hard-boiled mysteries.

Condition: Very near fine in a very good dustjacket ( a little loss of paper at the ends of the spine, some wear to the folds of the dj, but the cover illustration is still bright and beautiful.)
