SIGNED hardcover first edition - Meeker, born in 1830, who first crossed the Oregon Trail in 1852 by oxcart, with his young wife, describes himself as the only remaining survivor of those adults who took the Oregon Trail at the height of the migration of 1852. In 1906-1910 and again in 1915, he crossed the trail by automobile as he worked to help erect monuments to the wagon train pioneers. Illustrated with 20 drawings, most full-page, and some on glossy paper. The verso of the rather uncommon dust jacket contains a larger map of the route. SIGNED by Meeker on front free endpaper. Includes several pages on the work of the Oregon Trail Memorial Association and a one page list of Meeker's other works. 287 pp.

    Condition: Near fine in illustrated red boards with white lettering in a very good dust jacket (some tape reinforcement to the dj).
