The story of those who traveled on a wagon train leaving Missouri in 1848, before word of the discovery of gold had arrived, and one which ends in the 'promised land' - that is, in the early placer mining years on the American River, but one which focuses more on the two very different men who loved Susan. Illustrated with a color frontispiece by John Rae. 496 pp.

    Condition: Very good in sage green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations (tide marks on the margins of several leaves)
