    Condition: Good condition in stamped dark green boards with gilt decorations and titling on the spine. Previous owner's name dated 1865 on title page. Some wear to the corners and ends of the spine, scattered light foxing throughout, but mostly in the margins. Reprinted many times, this is uncommon in the first edition.

Hardcover - A rather uncommon children's novel by this author - the story of the friendship between an "impulsive little girl in a fine New York home and and a little blind girl in an apartment next door."Illustrated with a glossy frontispiece and 7 inserted glossy plates by Bertha Davidson. 248 pp. plus 6 pp of publisher's ads (4 for other books by Rhoades). While the copyright page only indicates "published August 1902" which would normally indicate a first printing, the ads includes books published through 1909.

    Condition: Good overall in illustrated terra cotta cloth. Front hinge cracked, rear hinge starting, previous owner's name dated in 1913.
