SIGNED hardcover - An early novel by Pease, a mystery and adventure story for older boys, set on a tramp cargo freighter and in Tahiti, SIGNED on the front endpaper with the words "best wishes" and dated 1961. Illustrated by Paul Q. Forster. 272 pp. Laid in is a mimeographed single sheet folded of tan paper with the front cover announcing "Howard Pease Day, July 27, 1961, Palo Alto, California, and a mimeographed half sheet with the lyrics for a song in Pease's honor. . The schedule for the day appears inside with Pease giving a speech "My adventures become your books." Signed books by Pease are fairly uncommon, even without this scarce bit of ephemera.

    Condition: Near fine in a very good dustjacket (some toning to the front endpaper, edgewear to the dj, with a few small chips at the top of the spine) .
