Bound in very dark blue clothe with art nouveau style decorations by Margaret Armstrong (with her monogram on the front cover) and lettering in gilt. Top edge gilt. xiv, 201 pp plus 2 pp publisher's ads.

    Condition: Very good (gift inscription dated Christmas 1898, some fraying to the top of the spine)

Hardcover - A novel by this prolific writer, bound in lavender cloth in a beautiful example of Margaret Armstrong's Art Nouveau style with gilt lettering and a gilt and purple grapevine, with her monogram on the front board. Color frontispiece portrait by Blendon Campbell with a printed tissue guard. Each page has the text inside black ruled borders with red running heads. 372 pp.

    Condition: Very good overall (front hinge cracked, gift inscription dated 1910).

Hardcover first edition - This collection includes what is probably Van Dyke's best known poem "Katrina's Sundial" (also known as "Time Is") which has inspired several songs. The second section of the poem was read at the funeral of Princess Diana - "Time is / Too slow for those who Wait, / Too swift for those who Fear, / Too long for those who Grieve, / Too short for those who Rejoice, /But for those who Love, / Time is not." Title page with red and black lettering, art nouveau illustration by Margaret Armstrong (signed with MA) who also did the unsigned cover with a decoration in gilt of a cello in a wreath of flying doves. 116 pp.

    Condition: Some sunning to the silk olive green cloth and darkening to the spine, but overall very good condition - clean, tight and attractive.
