Purportedly autobiographical, this is narrated by an androgynous twelve year old boy whose mother Sarah is a lot lizard, a prostitute who works the truck stops in West Virginia. He tries to follow in her world, working for a pimp who specializes in "boy-girls." Along with the collection of stories published in 2001 this became the film "The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things" with Asia Argento. 154 pp.
