    London: Faber & Faber, (1946.) dj. Hardcover - Early printing of this author's first mystery, an Inspector Mallett detective story, originally published in 1937. P. D. James named one of Hare's later novels, 'Tragedy at Law.' as one of her five favorite dectective stories and the book she considered the best English legal crime novel - however, all of Hare's books are well-worth reading, and most are classics in their own right. 200 pp.

    Condition: Very good in a good dust jacket. - a little fading to the edges of the cloth, the dustjacket has a loss of about 3/4 of an inch at the top of the spine, but the striking front cover illustration by Victor Reinganum is still bright and attractive.
