    Berlin: Morawe und Scheffelt, 1918. Hardcover first edition - A story in Polynesia by this German poet - laid in is a slip which notes "Dieses Buch wurde als Blockbuch gedruckt, es darf daher an den Seiten nicht ausgeschnitten werden" (This book was printed as a block book, it must therefore not be cut out on the sides.) Small format. 57 pp plus colophon: "Das Buch wurde wahrend des grossen krieges in der druckerei des Deutschen Kommunalverlags in Berlin-Friedenau gedruckt (The book was printed during the great war in the print shop of the German municipal publishing house in Berlin-Friedenau)" Although not one of the numbered 200 copies, this is bound in brown leather with gilt lettering on the spine, narrow gilt bands on cover.

    Condition: Near fine (bookplate) in a near fine stapled cardboard slipcase.

Entirely in German in the traditional Deutsche Schrift (except for the copyright notice.) Oblong format, measuring approximately 8 by 11 inches, 143 pages plus an alphabetical index. Bound in black cloth with leather spine and corners, gilt lettering on front cover.

    Condition: Very good condition - chip at bottom of spine, some wear to the corners, binding sturdy, contents clean. Uncommon.

    Boston: Beacon Press, (1961) dj. Hardcover first edition - The first appearance in English of the final work of Scheler, originally published in German in 1928. Scheller was known for his work in phenomenology, ethics, and philosophical anthropology, and he developed the philosophical method of Edmund Husserl, the founder of phenomenology. After his death in 1928, Martin Heidegger commented, along with Ortega y Gasset, that all philosophers of the century were indebted to Scheler. Translated from the German and with a long introduction by Hans Meyerhoff. Notes, index. xxxv, 105 pp.

    Condition: Near fine in a very good dust jacket (overall minor edgewear to dj, peeled spot on front cover, original price of 4.00 still present.).

    Condition: Good overall condition in marbleized boards - loss of about 4.5 cm of spine covering at top of spine, rubbing and wear to edges of boards.
