While this is almost a travelogue, with a minimal plot, and the comments on what they find is often prejudiced, this book does includes a look at the effects of earthquakes and tsumanis, and an interesting glimpse of nitrate mining in the Bolivian coastal region of Antofagasta. Illustrated with a glossy frontispiece and three inserted plates by H.S. Barbour. 280 pp.
