Hardcover first edition - A story of a woman, neither young nor attractive, who travels west and finds success, of a sort, in a small mining town - spans the years before and during the first World War. A rather interesting variation on the classic romantic Western novel. Gift inscription on the front endpaper, and laid in is a 2 page letter from the giver of this book, a woman who apparently also left her family in search of a more prosperous life.
