SELECTED POEMS.
Edition: First printing.
Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1964. dj. Hardcover first edition - A selection of 37 of Senghor's poems translated from the French and introduced by John Reed and Clive Wake. Although Senghor, the first President of Senegal, is often held up as a poet of negritude, a term which he and Aime Cesaire coined, in their introduction, the translators make the point that it is also 'genuine' poetry. Uncommon in any edition, but especially so in this, the true first edition.
Condition: Very good in very good dust jacket (prev owner's name, slightly edgeworn dj is price-clipped and has 'first president of Senegal' written on the front flap.)
