The prefatory note indicates that this work, deals mainly with inflammatory diseases in women and while imparting strictly scientific information, uses familiar language, avoiding technical terms where possible, to make it accessible to the general reader. For example, in a chapter entitled "Delusions on the Curative Powers of Drugs" Miller emphasizes the body's ability to heal itself.
