GALVESTON.

Edition: First printing.

New York: Scribner, (2010) dj. SIGNED hardcover first edition - The author's first (and, so far, only) novel, preceded by a highly praised collection of short stories, which - among other honors - resulted in his being named one of the "Best New Writers" by Poets & Writers. 'Galveston' was a finalist for the Edgar Award's 2010 best first novel and winner of the 2011 Spur Award for Best First Novel from the Western Writers of America and the Prix du Premier Roman Etranger, the French Academy's award for Best First Novel, Foreign, as well as the basis for the 2014 film of the same title. Shortly after this novel was published he moved to screenwriting, where he is best known for creating the HBO hit show 'True Detective' and for the screenplay for 2016 remake 'The Magnificent Seven.' After being set-up by his dangerous loan-sharking boss in New Orleans, Roy Cady, believing he has nothing to lose after being diagnosed with lung cancer, leaves his would-be assassins "mostly dead" but as he is making his getaway, he rescues a young girl who had been held captive and takes her with him, to try and find safety in hiding in the battered waterfront of East Texas's Galveston, a world of fleabag hotels and treacherous drifters. SIGNED on the title page - copies signed by Pizzolatto are very uncommon. 258 pp. ISBN: 978-1439166642.
