SIGNED hardcover first edition - The 14th regional book by this veteran Rochester newspaperman which tells stories of the people and events of the Genesee River Valley in the 18th and 19th centuries. The long title story is that of Mary Jemison, a white girl who was captured by Indians but chose to spend her life with the Native Americans and became a wealthy landowner in the area. SIGNED on the front endpaper. Illustrated with 12 photographic plates. Uncommon in the first edition, and especially so signed. 207 pp.

Condition: Near fine in blue cloth (inscription on half title page) in a very good dust jacket with some minor edgewear, original price of $2.50..
