The long first story, 'The Captive' , the story of a young pioneer wife taken captive by Indians after her children are killed, is among her best writing. An inexpensively produced book, manufactured under war time conditions. INSCRIBED on the front endpaper to Hazel Emry (possibly the woman who was one of the founders of the Richmond Civic Theatre in 1941, since Gordon was writer in residence at Purdue University in Indiana in 1963.) Has an 'A' and publisher's device on copyright page, original price of 2.50 on dj flap. 245 pp.

Condition: Very good in teal cloth in a good only dust jacket, with al chip ib the bottom edge of the front cover, sunning to the spine, loss of 1/2 cm at the top of the spine, some rubbing along the folds of the dj, Despite the flaws in the dj, this is a an attractive copy of a quite uncommon signed book.
