THE DAY OF UNITING,
Edition: First printing.
New York: The Mystery League, 1930. dj. Hardcover first edition - A famous mathematician and explorer appears at a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister of England, disheveled and distraught, and as he collapses, he pleads "Stop the Terror." Several violent murders follow; Scotland Yard seems reluctant to investigate, and Jimmy Blake, a happy-go-lucky, wealthy young war ace is called upon to "stop the terror.". A title issued by the rather short-lived Mystery League (1930-1933): their books were unique in that they were sold through United Cigar Stores and Drug Stores, instead of bookstores, and despite their low price of 50c each, they were attractively bound. This is one of five titles released simultaneously in a Christmas boxed set, and the only ones that appear in an olive green cloth binding (rather than the usual black silk cloth). Striking art deco dust jacket art by Eugene "Gene" Thurston. 286 pp.
Condition: Near fine in a very good dust jacket.
