David Adams, who went West with Captain Bonneville in 1832 just as the fur trade was ending, worked well with the Plains Indians, and his papers reveal many details of the conduct and character of the robe trade. These were transcribed from sometimes fragmentary originals by Charles Hanson, Jr. and Veronica Sue Walters of the Museum of the Fur Trade in the winter of 1975-76. Map, illustrated with photographs.
