Hardcover first edition - The first title in the Kathy Martin Nurse Series - illustrated by John Firnic with several full -page drawings and half-page drawings at the beginning of each chapter, all in pale green. Bound in diamond-patterned boards. No other titles listed in the book, and the rear flap, which includes the information that Josephine James is a pseudonym being used by a mother and daughter team, describes this as their first joint novel for young people. Despite the constraints of juvenile series fiction at the time, Sterne and Lindsay, both of whom were very involved in civil rights activism, managed to introduce many characters in the series with varied ethnic backgrounds - all young women more interested in a career than in getting married. 188 pp.

Condition: Very good in a very good only dust jacket (usual toning to the pages, bookplate and previous author's name, some wear to the top edge and delamination to the dj.)
