A young girl, who has not been able to speak since childhood, has taken a position as a "lady help" in a remote mansion and finds herself threatened by a killer who has a penchant for strangling handicapped young women. Basis for several films including the classic 1946 RKO suspense movie, THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE, starring Dorothy McGuire, George Brent, Ethel Barrymore, and Elsa Lanchester. 319 pp.

Condition: Fair condition only in maroon cloth in a like dustjacket. The book is missing the front free endpaper, has a slanted spine and somewhat bumped corners, rear hinge cracking. The dustjacket has significant edgewear, some minor loss at the ends of the spine, rubbing and wear to the folds, original price of 2.00 still present. A flawed, but still readable and possibly restorable copy of a very scarce book in dust jacket.
