New York: George H. Doran, (1915). Hardcover first edition - The last novel in the somewhat autobiographical trilogy by Beresford concerning the life of Jacob Stahl, an aspiring author. In contrast to his science fiction works, he is known for his books of psychological realism - although this book is in one way a tribute to a freer way of life, with Jacob, who is still married, living with his girl friend Betty in Cornwall, it is more a picture of the psychological stresses caused by defying convention. 405 pp.
