Morro Bay, California: Java Books, (1977) dj. SIGNED hardcover first edition - A novel by Duffy, the former warden of San Quentin and Linkletter, a researcher and writer. While this is the story of one man's descent into being a junkie, imprisoned several times until he finally winds up in San Quentin, this is based mostly on real-life narcotic users and actual life in the prison. Includes "Narcotic Quotes" by Senator Alan Cranston. Despite his former position, in his preface Duffy makes it very clear that he does not think prison is the solution to addiction and crime.
