THE SECRET OF THE MUSICAL TREE: Judy Bolton Mystery #19.
Edition: Later printing.
New York: Grosset & Dunlap, (1948) dj. Hardcover - My favorite series as a young girl: I liked them for the realism: Judy starts out as a high school girl, has some of the usual problems all kids encounter including misunderstandings among friends, etc, is a little older and more mature in each book - in fact, she gets married, and eventually she and her husband even adopt a child. This is one of the books in the series where Roberta, their adopted daughter, plays a significant part - it is also a title with more violence than usual in this series. Unlike most of the other series books published by Grosset and Dunlap, this was not part of the Stratemeyer Syndicate. Margaret Sutton was a real woman, writing under her own name. Because of the opposition of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, this series did not have the extensive reprinting that the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys had. Bound in rust-colored tweed with burgundy and white haunted house endpapers. Dust jacket flap lists to #30. 216 pp
Condition: Very good condition, in a very good minus dust jacket (a bit of staining to upper corner of first few pages, some chips to top of dj spine)
