SIGNED first edition - Second volume of this rather brief-lived, but extremely interesting, and 'cutting edge' journal, founded, according Reed's introduction, to 'publish the finest work by Afro-American artists without regard to ideological or aesthetic affiliation' and inspired by the creativity of jazz saxaphonist Charlie Parler, "Yardbird." By this issue, the contributors are no longer all African American but represent America in all its diversity - Afro-American, Chinese American, Japanese American, Filipino American, Anglo American, Franco American, Chicano, and more - and also African and Columbian. SIGNED by FOUR contributors: Al Young at his story "Boogie Sunday," Ishmael Reed at his interview with George Schuyler and by Shawn Hsu Wong and Frank Chin at their essay "Aiieee!
