RIGHT BY MY SIDE

Edition: First printing in wrappers. No hardcover edition.

Minneapolis: New Rivers Press, 1993. First edition - African American writer's first book, a story of growing up, black, hip and urban, in the midwest. Haynes was selected by Granta magazine in 1996 as one of the 20 best young writers in the US - and at the time he was selected, he was unique in that he was the only author whose books had been published only by small independent presses. One of an edition of only 2,500 copies. A Minnesota Voices Project winner. 181 pp. ISBN: 0-89823-1477.

Condition: An ex-library copy but with minimal markings (withdrawn stamp on front endpaper) and otherwise quite clean and tight. Probably a significant percentage of the small first printing of this book wound up in libraries.
