TELL ME A RIDDLE.
Edition: First UK printing.
London: Faber & Faber, (1964.) dj. SIGNED hardcover first edition - A very attractive copy of Olsen's first book, originally published by Lippincott in 1961. This collection has only 4 short stories, yet the impact is powerful and lasting. The title story, winner of the O.Henry Award for best short story of the year, is one of the most frequently anthologized modern short stories, and 'I Stand Here Ironing' is, I think, one of the most moving ever written. INSCRIBED by Olsen inside the front cover in her very minute handwriting - 'for Dr.... a doctor you can ask questions (p 111.) Thank you.' and dated June, 1969, Kaiser Emergency, S.F. 127 pp. ISBN: 0-440-086540.
Condition: Near fine in near fine dust jacket. (some foxing to the edge of the textblock, and to the white background on the dj, short closed tear on upper edge of back cover of dj, but overall a tight and attractive copy, in a simple but striking white dust jacket with bold black and red lettering.
